NEORAL® (cyclosporine, USP) MODIFIED
Neoral (cyclosporine, USP) MODIFIED (see product safety information) Soft Gelatin Capsules and Oral Solution are indicated for the prevention of organ rejection in kidney, liver, and heart allogenic transplant patients. Neoral is an oral formulation of cyclosporine that immediately forms a microemulsion in an aqueous environment.
Neoral is the world's most widely prescribed immunosuppressant. It has been studied in diverse subpopulations, including pediatrics, African-Americans, and poor cyclosporine-absorbers.
Neoral and Sandimmune® (cyclosporine, USP) (see product safety information) are not bioequivalent and cannot be used interchangeably without careful monitoring of cyclosporine blood concentration and dosage adjustments based on individual response.
The principal adverse reactions of cyclosporine therapy in transplantation are renal dysfunction, tremors, hirsutism, hypertension, and gum hyperplasia. Neoral is a systemic immunosuppressant and may increase the susceptibility to infection and to the development of neoplasia.
